🚨 Important Announcement: Major Changes Coming to The Community 2.0 Starting September 1st, 2024 🚨
We’re excited to announce a significant transformation for The Community 2.0, beginning September 1st, 2024. As we continue to evolve and enhance your experience, we will be transitioning to a 100% paid community model. Here’s what this means for you:
Why the Change?
Moving to a fully paid community offers us the freedom to provide a more open and dynamic space. By subscribing, you confirm that you’re over 18, have read and accepted our terms, guidelines, and conditions, and understand that you may encounter content or discussions that you may not personally agree with. This shift allows us to maintain a robust platform where members can engage freely, express themselves, and connect with others who share similar interests—all within a respectful and supportive environment.
One Subscription, All Access
With this change, we’re simplifying our subscription model:
Single Monthly Subscription: One price covers everything. No more individual creator subscriptions or separate fees—your subscription grants you access to all communities within The Community 2.0.
Join and Leave at Will: Flexibility is key. You can join or leave any community as you wish, exploring the full breadth of what The Community 2.0 has to offer.
Subscription Transition Details
Current Subscriptions: All current subscriptions, with the exception of the Monthly Supporter subscription, will be canceled starting September 1st, 2024.
Lifetime Members: If you’re a lifetime member, don’t worry—you’ll receive a code in the coming weeks. This code will be posted in "The Council" community and can be entered into the promo box to continue your lifetime free subscription.
Action Required: You can purchase the new Monthly Subscription access starting now by clicking the banner at the top of the app. If you do not have an active subscription starting September 1st, you will lose access to The Community 2.0.
Canceling Existing Subscriptions: If you wish to cancel any of your current subscriptions before September 1st, go to the menu in the app, select Settings, then choose Subscriptions. You can modify or cancel your existing subscriptions there before the deadline.
Information for Current Creators
Creator Program Update: We understand that this transition will impact our creators. Additional information regarding the new creator program will be released on September 1st, 2024. Stay tuned for important updates and instructions.
New Community Guidelines
With these upcoming changes, we are also introducing new community guidelines to ensure that The Community 2.0 remains a safe, respectful, and engaging environment for everyone. Please take a moment to review the guidelines below:
The Community 2.0 Guidelines
Welcome to The Community 2.0! To ensure our community remains a vibrant, respectful, and enjoyable place for everyone, we ask that all members adhere to the following guidelines:
Respectful Discourse
Rule: Members are encouraged to engage in discussions freely, but respect is paramount. Hate speech, discrimination, or harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.
Rationale: This allows for open dialogue while ensuring that all members are treated with dignity and respect.
Explicit Content Warning
Rule: Explicit language, images, or discussions are permitted within the community. However, content that is federally illegal, including but not limited to the sale of drugs, is strictly prohibited.
Rationale: This maintains the integrity of the community while allowing for open conversation within legal boundaries.
No Sex Work Promotion
Rule: Advertising or promoting sex work, including selling sexual services or explicit content, is not allowed. This includes advertising OnlyFans or similar sites/links. The only exception is if a community member explicitly asks for a link, the sex worker may share it privately with the requester.
Rationale: This ensures that while discussions can be open, the community does not become a platform for sex work or related activities.
Handmade Community Rules
Rule: Members can advertise and sell their handmade goods within the community. However, Smoke & Bacon Media is not responsible for resolving disputes between buyers and sellers. If an investigation reveals that a seller defrauded a buyer, the seller will be removed and banned from the community.
Rationale: Encourages a trustworthy marketplace within the community while clarifying the limits of Smoke & Bacon Media's involvement.
Transparency and Honesty
Rule: Members must engage honestly and transparently in discussions and transactions. Misleading or deceptive practices will result in removal and banning from the community.
Rationale: Encourages trust and honesty within the community, fostering healthy and constructive interactions.
Moderation and Reporting
Rule: Moderators will ensure that conversations remain respectful and that the rules are followed. Users are encouraged to report violations, but moderators will allow free speech within the established guidelines.
Rationale: Provides a safety net to maintain a respectful environment while allowing free-flowing conversation.
Content Relevance
Rule: Keep discussions and content relevant to the community’s purpose and the topic at hand. Off-topic posts, while sometimes natural, should not dominate the conversation.
Rationale: Helps maintain the focus and quality of discussions, making it easier for members to find and engage with content that interests them.
Privacy Respect
Rule: Do not share personal information (yours or others’) without consent. This includes private messages, personal contact information, or any sensitive data.
Rationale: Protects members’ privacy and fosters a secure environment where people feel safe to share and participate.
No Spam or Self-Promotion
Rule: Unsolicited self-promotion, including spamming of links or advertisements, is not allowed unless in designated areas or with explicit permission from moderators.
Rationale: Keeps the community free from clutter and ensures that promotional content is relevant and welcomed.
Constructive Criticism
Rule: Criticism is encouraged, but it must be constructive and aimed at fostering improvement or understanding. Personal attacks or negativity for the sake of being negative will not be tolerated.
Rationale: Promotes a positive atmosphere where members feel comfortable sharing and receiving feedback.
Intellectual Property Respect
Rule: Respect intellectual property rights. Do not share content (like articles, images, videos) that you do not own or have permission to use, unless it falls under fair use or is appropriately credited.
Rationale: Protects creators’ rights and ensures the community remains a space for original and respectful sharing.
Consideration of Diverse Perspectives
Rule: Members are encouraged to express their opinions freely while being considerate of diverse perspectives. While it's important to stand by your views, it's equally important to recognize and respect that others may have different cultural or personal contexts.
Rationale: Encourages open dialogue and free expression, while gently reminding members to be mindful of how their words might impact others with different backgrounds or beliefs.
Positive Engagement
Rule: Contribute positively to the community. Whether through thoughtful comments, sharing useful resources, or supporting other members, aim to make the community better for everyone.
Rationale: Encourages members to add value to the community, making it a more enriching and enjoyable space for all.
