It depends on the situation. For the most part, it's hurting road safety. The systems currently in place are new and are as only as good as the programmers and sensors which isn't great at all. Then you need to look at the fact that it's taking control from the driver. Experienced drivers usually know how to read situations and respond accordingly. Now that the vehicle controls this, new drivers aren't learning these skills and experienced drivers become complacent. As a truck driver, all the flashing lights and sounds of the warning devices are a distraction. Also, it takes away my ability to control the vehicle in adverse weather situations and causes incidents due to the sensors not knowing the full scope of the situation
